RIVER TRIPS - Please Call Ahead For Reservations!
Blackwater Outdoor is licensed for over 350 miles of river on the Cheat and Potomac Rivers in West Virginia. We start in April, while the snow is still melting and stay on the rivers until late October when the fall colors are spectacular. We offer many different combinations of trips. All of our trips depart from our St. George River Outpost, which is just a short drive from the Canaan Valley and Blackwater Falls area.
CHEAT NARROWS
This stretch of 5 miles of river is what we do best. Some of the rapids we named, and utilize like no other company. Here you can expect the rapids to get increasingly better. These rapids all rate at least a class 3 and jump to a class 5 as the water rises. You will also enjoy our huge jump rock and special swimmers rapids. Our professional guides have learned the spots to stop and allow you the opportunity to explore for fossils or simply soak up the afternoon sun. Our Deluxe trip with a great buffet style lunch and slower paced atmosphere is ideal for folks who want to experience the river at its best. The Quickie trip is for those on a strict time budget and need just a sample of the finer life on the river.
Spring trips run on weekends from April up until Memorial Day Weekend. Trips depart at noon and last about 2 – 4 hours – includes complimentary snack and drink.
Summer Trips run daily beginning Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day Monday. Minimum age is 6.
We offer our “Deluxe Trips” on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. This trip departs at 10 AM and lasts about 3 – 5 hours and includes a riverside buffet.
“Quickie” trips are available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with departure times of 9 am or 1pm and includes a complimentary snack and drink. This trip lasts about 2 – 3 hours.
NORTH BRANCH OF THE POTOMAC
Who says you have to be miserable this summer? When all else has dried up and you are looking for that something to quench the summertime blues, then the “North Branch” is the ticket. A dam-fed river, this stretch offers nine miles of cold, clear water littered with many Class I to Class III rapids, as well as opportunities to sun, swim, picnic and relax. So come along, unless of course, you like to sweat. Minimum age is 12.
INFLATABLE KAYAKS “DUCKIES”
Commonly known as a “Ducky”, the inflatable kayaks are rapidly becoming our most popular attraction. People are finding the BEST way to see the river. No experience is necessary. Our professional guides assist you through each rapid. With instructions and hands on assistance, you are sure to get WET and smile the whole day. In late summer they may be the only rafting available. At other times simply ask for a “Duckie”!
